A Matter of Time

iceshacksJan29As I’m driving by the numerous frozen lakes that are in our cottage country, I have been noticing the population of fishing huts that have been arising. This has been a particularly good winter for ice fishing-lots of cold weather and snow. But do you also wonder what these people do in there?

I mean, you can’t be pulling fish out one after the other…there has to be some down time. Do you take a good book to read, listen to a radio with batteries or do you sit and talk with your buddies? I’m sure alcohol comes into the ice hut at some point and that is the issue.

Of course you are not going to be sleeping in your hut so how exactly do you get home? I mean, if you have had a few bevvies to pass the day and then you are ready to head out….what happens?

So, I need to ask-does spending time in an ice hut always involve the consumption of alcohol?
