Campaign opens up conversation

I recently had the pleasure of spending the morning at the Gravenhurst Farmers’ Market which is held every Wednesday at the Wharf. I took my trusty sandwich board and coasters.  I wanted to let people know about our campaign to raise awareness about the link between alcohol and chronic disease. I think it was pretty successful – I talked with many wonderful people of all ages. The responses that I received from individuals were positive and really highlighted the need for this campaign. I heard from family members and friends who were concerned about alcohol consumption by those they are close to. I also heard about health problems that have resulted due to the amount of alcohol consumed. Interestingly, most people said that they didn’t know about the link between alcohol and chronic disease. How timely that we’re doing a lot of talking about those links and the importance of staying within the low-risk drinking guidelines.
